Towards the end of 2018 Mechatherm was involved with the successful upgrade of a Melting Furnace at EGA’s Dubal plant. The furnace combustion system was converted from cold air to a regenerative burner system and the melt rate was increased form 10t/hr to 12t/hr. The upgrade enables EGA to recycle internal scrap more effectively and efficiently.
It was a challenging project with the site phase being conducted in parallel with the refractory relining of the furnace and in a live casthouse with minimal production interruption of the surrounding furnaces required by the customer. Adding to the challenge was the tight deadlines needed to be achieved in order for the customer to meet its year end targets.
Mechatherm rose to the challenge and completed the project on time and to specification.
