The Mechatherm controls and automation team works in an open form structure where each member has continuous access to any required data and information. In answer to today's growing need of ‘shop floor’ data access, Mechatherm have formed an Industrial IT team who now specialise in the acquisition and logging of data and giving the connectivity required to achieve it.
Our systems include the following:
- Integration of wireless networking into a cast-house environment for data logging
- Introduction of fibre-optic backbone technology to increase the performance and bandwidth of plant networks
- Use of MySQL, Microsoft SQLServer and IBM AS400 as long-term data archiving platforms
- Use of remote computing for improved long-term and long-distance support
- Introduction of redundant networking technology to limit loss of production from the loss or damage of cables
- Use of virtual computers to allow better warranty services for customers and improve disaster recovery
