Chip & Swarf Melting Furnace

Mechatherm have supplied several furnaces for light gauge scrap typically comprising swarf, chips and scalpings. The furnace comprises a single chamber configuration with an electromagnetic pump system complete with charge / process well.

Scrap is continuously fed in to the well at rates between 3 and 6 tonnes per hour, the vortex well quickly submerges the light scrap under the metal surface to prevent oxidation and burning, resulting in a very high yield.

Mechatherm also supply the required charging equipment comprising vibratory feeders, conveyors and storage hoppers.

As an option the furnace can integrate a dry hearth section for melting solid scrap such as wheels or primary scrap. Contaminated or painted wheels can also be processed within this furnace.
